Shake it Off!

Several years ago, my husband and I attended a rather interesting church service in New York. We giggled about the sermon because the preacher read a few scriptures about the Apostle Paul being bitten by the snake and how he had to “SHAKE IT OFF”.

Well, perhaps we were acting a little snooty at the time because after all, we were “non-denominational faith people” who didn’t care for this “type” of preaching.

However, throughout the years, that sermon is one of the most memorable, we’ve ever heard.

WHY?

You guessed it.

When things got tough, we looked at each other and said, “come on honey, just shake it off!”
:)

We had to “shake off” a lot throughout the years. I won’t say it works all the time, but at least it provides a little comic relief to help us get through tough times.

So the next time, an issue or challenge comes your way… remember who you are in Christ.

You were meant for more… much more.

Never get discouraged with your problems… come on and just shake it… I’ll let you finish this one!

I love you and I’m praying for you!

Step into the Fridge

I know. I know. I know.  It’s been  awhile since you last heard from me.

I took a little hiatus without knowing I was actually taking one. :)

Boy I’ve missed you.

I have so much to share and so much inside of me that I just might burst all over my kitchen floor while typing…

Anyway… this is a picture of my precious (and busy) 9 month old daughter. She’s funny and beautiful and smart and giggly and all those silly things that make mamas proud.

A few days ago, I was helping my youngest son with his homework. I turned around and realized my baby girl had crawled into the refrigerator because the door wasn’t quite shut.

What’s pretty funny is that she just started crawling a few weeks ago and now she’s already standing up and climbing into cabinets, closets and anything else she can get into.

I wanted you to see this picture because it really inspired me.

She inspires me.

She’s fearless.

At only 9 months old, she doesn’t understand fear or discouragement or defeat.

She simply steps right up and goes after it.

She saw a bag of lettuce and she decided to go after it with all her might!!

Isn’t that how we’re supposed to live?

Aren’t we supposed to be fearless as Christians?

Where’s our faith?

Where’s our drive to do more and be more and want more?

It’s inside of us.

Don’t let your passion or dream die my friends! Never.

Let it live. Let it live.

Now… go ahead and go after your own bag of lettuce! Shucks!! I’m so fired up, I may eat some lettuce right NOW!

I love you and I’m praying for you and………….. I’m so glad to be back!

Spread the word! The doors to My Freedom Suite are open again! GLORY!!!!

Why I Love God… Part 1

This title  might seem a little “churchy”, but it’s not all. It’s pretty simple. I love God and I’m not ashamed to say it.

If you’re reading this blog and you’re not a Christian or you’re on the fence, I want to keep it simple for you.

I love God and I serve God because He loves me more than I could ever love myself or anyone else.

He literally plucked me out of my own mess and set me apart, cleaned me up and gave me a new life.

It has never been my plan to serve Him.

Never.

Ever.

However, His divine plan for my life was so much sweeter and so much better than I could have ever imagined.

Please don’t run from God.

Embrace Him.

You won’t regret it.

I love you and I’m praying for you.

Loving My Nose, My Head, My Thighs…

I know the blog title is a little strange for some of you. But keep reading. It’ll make sense in a moment.

Recently, I celebrated my 37th birthday. So naturally I’ve been staring in the mirror a lot. I’ve always had issues with the size of my nose and my head and after three kids, my thighs and every other part close by. :)

Each time I walk past the mirror, I think about something I want to change. “If only my nose were a little smaller.”  Or “I wish I were a little taller.” One day, the Lord reminded me that when He created me, He had perfection on His mind.

Therefore, my physical appearance was not only pre-determined by Him but that He loves me…

He really, really loves me.

Glory.

Since that day, I don’t bemoan any part of my body anymore. I thank God for creating me and loving me, just the way I am.

I hope you do too.

I love you and I’m praying for you.

My Journey to Freedom

Recently I shared a small part of my “testimony” with close friends. I told the story in my usual joking tone, however, my story really isn’t funny at all. You see, I spent almost 30 years living in bondage that only God and my husband know about.

Sometimes my eyes well up with tears when I think about my journey to freedom in Christ.

I have to “walk out” my freedom everyday.

I don’t get a day off.

I wasn’t instantly delivered from my sin-filled habits. Therefore, its critical that I get before God in prayer EVERY DAY in order to MAINTAIN my freedom in Him.

It’s not easy, nor is it fun… but it sure is sweet to be FREE!!! THANK YAAAA! :)

I love you and praying for you.

Making Good Decisions

Recently my husband and I talked about the bad decisions we made early on in life.

From leaving our jobs for an unprofitable business to purchasing a home we couldn’t afford to leasing a $30,000 car. (Yes, we actually leased a car and yes we had to turn it in after four years.)

He simply shook his head in disbelief as we recounted how far we’ve come over the years. We laughed at my tendency to be rather “deep” about things and his tendency to “go with the flow”. We’ve learned the hard way that making good decisions is very biblical and still very practical.

Jesus never called us to live a life contrary to His word. He called us to abide in His word, so His words would abide in us (John 15:7). So what does this mean when it comes to paying your bills? It means, if you have so much of God’s word in you, then God will ALWAYS lead you to make the right decisions… and his leading is never emotional. I repeat. God never leads us down an emotional road.

We do.

God is a God of practicality.

If 1 plus 1 doesn’t equal 2, then you should check the calculator you’re using. God will always add his super to our natural, but we’ve got to do our part. So if you’re in the middle of a making a major decision right now, then stop and think about the long-term impact and take your time to ensure you’re making the right decision.

Trust me. You’ll be so glad you did.

I love you and I’m praying for you.

A Balanced Look at Finances

A few days ago I posted a short blog about financial miracles. I published that blog because I wanted you to know that God is an all-sufficient, all supreme, omnipotent God that can do anything.

The Bible says he will supply all of our needs (Philippians 4:19).

However, what happens with our wants… or better yet… what happens with our financial “wants” when they don’t line up with God?

Do we have a part to play or do we simply wait on God for our big miraculous breakthrough?

Take a look at this short testimony.

I love you and I’m praying for you.

Do Financial Miracles Exist?

Finances. Money. Income. Favor. Increase.

These are simple words that can be so, so complicated. God has been doing something new in our finances, so I wanted to share a series of posts that I hope will help you.

My husband and I have experienced amazing miracles recently and we’ve also experienced the process of “walking it out”.

Take a look at this short video about a million dollar miracle.

Enjoy!
